Heliotropes playing Everyone Else aboard Wantagh

Hold Fast!

Hurricane Sandy has done major damage to NYC, so please contribute time, resources, or information to the relief effort.

Interoccupy is regularly posting information on drop off locations, needs and volunteer info.

Sandy Relief: How You Can Help is a facebook group where you can post info on how anyone can help out with the relief effort.

Red Cross is also accepting donations to provide relief all over the North East.

Now, without further delay, here is Heliotropes playing their new song Everyone Else. We shot this video on one of the last days of summer, and it is hard to imagine how we could have had more fun. There was a bit of reoccurring noise interference from the airport, but hey things worth while are rarely easy.

Racket Club playing Sloop John B aboard Walking on Water

Ahoy-hoy!

Racket Club chose quite a song to cover for this video. Sloop John B has quite a history to it, even before it was made popular by the Beach Boys. The song was written about one of the most unruly and drunken sloops in the Bahamas, and has been covered by artists from Johnny Cash to Dick Dale. I doubt any of them made it sounds as sweet as Racket club, so without further ado...

Racket Club plays Step Out aboard Walking on Water

Ahoy!

This week our video has Racket Club (formerly known as Chair-O-Planes) playing their single Step Out, which is a tune I promise you will be humming to yourself all day. Their next show is Friday September 14th at Delinquency, so bring six or seven dozen of your best friends to show support.

The Walking on Water is one of the smaller ships at the Marina 59 Boatel, but has a whole lot going on inside. Designed by Stephen McLeod of Canadian collective VSVSVS, this vessel has been turned into a floating musical instrument. The bow has been outfitted with a giant wind harp, and the interior has been outfitted with numerous hidden contact mics, loop pedals, and wind chimes that are guaranteed to make your nights stay into an unforgettable musical experience.

Enjoy!

Friend Roulette playing Shallow Brown on the Chemical Reaction

Welcome Back to Showboats NYC. This week we have a video of Friend Roulette playing the sea shanty Shallow Brown. We shot this on the deck Chemical Reaction at the Marina 59 Boatel earlier this Summer, and I could keep talking about this and that but I really think you should just go ahead and watch the video because its the prettiest one I have ever made.

Friend Roulette playing Golden on the Chemical Reaction

Our first session has Friend Roulette playing aboard the Chemical Reaction at the Marina 59 Boatel.

The Chemical Reaction was made by  Artist Chassy Cleland, and was designed after the Beagle, which brought Charles Darwin to the Galapagos. The website said it slept four, but I think we managed to fit ten.

Friend Roulette can best be described as Brooklyn's premiere melty summer pop chamber brunch outfit putting out music today, but don't quote me on that. Golden is the single off their full length due out this January, which will be put out by Good Night Records. Their next show will be on September 14th at Delinquency.
